1914 the generation that ran out of timeThe following quotes were published in the May 1, 1997 Watchtower:

“JEHOVAH GOD is the Grand Identifier of his true messengers. He identifies them by making the messages he delivers through them come true. Jehovah is also the Great Exposer of false messengers. How does he expose them? He frustrates their signs and predictions. In this way he shows that they are self-appointed prognosticators, whose messages really spring from their own false reasoning—yes, their foolish, fleshly thinking!”

I was in shock when I first read this and really was at a loss for words.  I will use their words to examine this article.  Have any of the  “signs and predictions” of the Watchtower/JW-Org/GB come true?  Has not the JW organization been frustrated with countless wrong predictions?  With their own words do they not condemn themselves by saying, “In this way he shows that they are self-appointed prognosticators, whose messages really spring from their own false reasoning—yes, their foolish, fleshly thinking!”

I am not going to go into all of the failed prophecies of the Watchtower.  If you are not aware of these you can check those out in this previous article on jwstruggle.com: A Review of the Society’s Prophetic Record

The same article in the May 1, 1997 Watchtower quotes ISAIAH 44:25, 26 as the theme scripture, “I am . . . the One making the word of his servant come true, and the One that carries out completely the counsel of his own messengers.”

It is scriptures like this one in Isaiah that has opened the eyes of those of us who have learned TTATT.  (The Truth About The Truth)

Another quote from this same Watchtower article:

“These deceivers continued in their mad course of predicting things against God’s will. So Jehovah God told Ezekiel: “Woe to the stupid prophets, who are walking after their own spirit, when there is nothing that they have seen!”

Did the Watchtower stop making false predictions after their first failed predictions?  Did they stop after the second or third?  We all know the answer to these questions…  Does that mean they have “continued in their mad course of predicting things against God’s will”?  Are they “stupid prophets”?  You would think a faithful/wise and discreet slave would not do “stupid” things but the record shows otherwise does it not?

Another quote from this same Watchtower article:

“As for Isaiah, all his divine messages about Jerusalem came true. In the summer of 607 B.C.E., the Babylonians destroyed the city and took a Jewish remnant back to Babylon as captives. (2 Chronicles 36:15-21; Ezekiel 22:28; Daniel 9:2) Did these calamities stop the false prophets from bombarding God’s people with vain babblings? No, those lying messengers kept at it!”

The Watchtower proclaimed the fall of Babylon The Great (World Wide False Religion) and the end of this wicked system in 1914.   It didn’t happen, the end did not come and Babylon The Great is still in full force today.  Has that stopped them from their “vain babblings?”   We all know the answer to that…  again, in their own words, “No, those lying messengers kept at it!”

Another quote from this same Watchtower article:

“…all people living then saw God’s ‘bared arm’ exerting power in human affairs in order to bring about the astounding salvation of a nation. They were given unimpeachable proof that Isaiah and Ezekiel were Jehovah’s true messengers. No one could doubt that Zion’s God was the only living and true God in all the earth. At Isaiah 35:2, we read: “There will be those who will see the glory of Jehovah, the splendor of our God.” Those who accepted this proof of Jehovah’s Godship turned to worshiping him.”

Where is the “unimpeachable proof” that Jehovah’s Witnesses are Jehovah’s true messengers?  Is there anything that they predicted that actually came true?  We know they will point to 1914 as a fulfilled prophecy but the truth is nothing they said came true.  Just the opposite.  1914 passed and the leaders were thrown into prison.  They wrongly applied prophecy to that as well.  What do all of the onlookers in the world think about these messengers?  Have they been given this “unimpeachable proof” that they are the true messengers of God?  We all know what they would say if we asked them that question.

Another quote from this same Watchtower article:

“How thankful we should be that Jehovah identifies his true messengers! He is indeed “the One making the word of his servant come true, and the One that carries out completely the counsel of his own messengers.” (Isaiah 44:26) The restoration prophecies he gave Isaiah and Ezekiel magnify his great love, undeserved kindness, and mercy toward his servants. Surely, Jehovah deserves all our praise for this! And we today should be especially thankful that he exposes false messengers. This is because there are many of them now on the world’s scene. Their grandiose messages ignore Jehovah’s announced purposes.”

What can we say to this?  Honestly it boggles my mind.  I truly do feel sorry for those who wrote this and those who believe it.  Could there be a clearer case of blindness?   Jehovah has not carried out “completely” the council of these messengers.  The word “completely” leaves no room for error.  True messengers of Jehovah have their messages come true and are backed by “unimpeachable proof” like Isaiah and Ezekiel could claim.

Please consider Romans 2:17-24,  “If, now, you are a Jew in name and are resting upon law and taking pride in God,  and you know his will and approve of things that are excellent because you are orally instructed out of the Law; and you are persuaded that you are a guide of the blind, a light for those in darkness, a corrector of the unreasonable ones, a teacher of babes, and having the framework of the knowledge and of the truth in the Law— do you, however, the one teaching someone else, not teach yourself? You, the one preaching “Do not steal,” do you steal?  You, the one saying “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You, the one expressing abhorrence of the idols, do you rob temples? You, who take pride in law, do you by your transgressing of the Law dishonor God? For “the name of God is being blasphemed on account of YOU people among the nations; just as it is written.”

In an effort to reach my brothers I would like to ask the governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses these questions, “You who condemn others who made false predictions do you make false predictions?  You who condemn others for false teaching have you taught false teachings?”  It must be pointed out to you that because of not practicing what you preach “the name of God is being blasphemed on account of YOU people among the nations; just as it is written.”

Please consider Matthew 12:37, “…for by your words you will be declared righteous, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Do the words written by the Watchtower about false messengers declare them as “righteous” or “condemned?”  I will leave that call up to God but I don’t want to be standing to close when the Watchower is judged…

It is my hope that all of us here at jwstruggle.com learn from the mistakes that our previous teachers have made. Namely,  the Watchtower organization.  (1 John 2:26-27)  I am only pointing out mistakes the Watchtower has made.  I am not casting judgment on them.  By the words that we speak and write we will be judged.  This web site gets thousands of new visitors each month and no doubt it is our brothers and sisters who are having doubts just like we did.  Everyone here, the writers and all posters need to take to heart the words at Matthew 12:37.  I know I fail at this over and over but I do try to consider how the thousands that read our web site will be affected.   I know the other writers consider this too.  Let us all continue to be mindful of this and not condemn because when we condemn, we condemn ourselves.  (Matthew 7:2)  In the above quoted article and the following articles,  the Watchtower condemns many of things they themselves are guilty of.  It’s the same old story just a different day.  I thank God that I have came to Christ and he has become my personal mediator and I no longer am a slave to man.  (1 Corinthians 7:23)

With Christian love,

Your brother in Christ,

Good article Greybeard, and so true what you have written.
But actually God’s true messengers who are spirit messengers (angels) are the ones who are flying about in mid-heaven, just as this scripture in Revelation states, for example.

    Revelation 3
6 ¶ And I saw another angel flying in mid-heaven, having an everlasting gospel to proclaim to those dwelling on the earth, even to every nation and tribe and tongue and people,
7 saying in a great voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him, because the hour of His judgment has come; also, Worship “Him who has made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea,” and the springs of waters. Ex. 20:11
8 And another angel followed, saying, The great city, Babylon, has fallen, has fallen because of the wine of the anger of her fornication she made all nations to drink.
9 And a third angel followed them, saying in a great voice, If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or in his hand,
10 he also shall drink of the wine of the anger of God having been mixed undiluted in the cup of His wrath………………..

So it is these angels of God that are the true messengers.

And we humans who are used for this purpose are only the tools(whether in written form or by voice) to convey these messages of these angelic messengers.

So perhaps those of the Watchtower Society, should consider this fact.

Greybeard, that was a well appreciated article, thank you brother.
Futureman, your comment was very discerning, that scripture got me thinking.

  3. John S. says:

Good topic,G.B. I will quote Prov.20:27,”The breath of earthling man is the lamp of Jehovah, carefully searching all the innermost parts of the belly.”To get what this means,we can go to the Lord’s words at Matt.15:11.”Not what enters into[his] mouth defiles a man;but it is what proceedsout of[his] mouth that defiles a man.”,and also Luke 6:45,”A good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart, but a wicked man brings forth wicked out of his wicked[treasure];for out of the heart’s abundance, his mouth speaks.” We can see at times rotten, proud, false(lies),treacherous, filthy, and every ruinous thing can come from the”breath” of earthling man.Conversely,we see prais, love, truth, humility, encouragement, and true instruction come forth. In the time we’re living,we are accountable for what we are saying, according to The Lord@ Matt.5:22 calling people “a despicable fool!”,could land a person in Gehenna, why?Because Jehovah and Christ judge what the heart is,and the hateful speech shows up what is in the heart, like the proverb says.(this is described as the innermost parts of the body in the Proverb above)We all must test out words, the way the palate tastes food,as to whether it sounds”good”,makes sense, comes true,or harmonizes with the Word of God.”Does not the ear itself test out words,as the palate does food?”Job12:11 If we are speaking explanations of difficult or important Biblical passages, others are only expected to scrutinize under the microscope of Holy Writ the meaning of what we are saying as true or not.John 8:32 and John 4:24 gives us the right to comment and pass judgement on anyone’s view,if the Bible is used, would you agree? If what we say cannot be scrutinized by others,we have set ourselves up as the “true and only Prophet”,a title I only would attribute to the Lord himself.

  6. Ruth says:

    John S.
I see you as a true brother in the Lord! It is so refreshing in this world to hear what you are saying! Your common sense. You hate what is bad and love what is good l see. “The Lords command”
Your goodness is so refreshing. Your a person who says what you mean! and means what you say.
The holy father is teaching you not to have double standards.
( Jesus is the word.) John 1-1 (His word is his word! )
Can our minds be like a cup of water half full of poison and half full of quality water? No! we have to be one way or another. We are either rotten to the core or full of Gods spirit.
No one will be perfect for sure. But we need to listen when he whispers in our ears and make adjustments. Need to break our heart in for forgiveness also need to apologize to our brother or sisters in his presence and to each other.

Putting Gods children before ourselves so to speak. I’m talking about born again Christians here! What I am seeing is breaking my heart. I’m finding it so hard to find them in my country.

Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. Other wise its from Satan the devil. I think brother John S has been sent as a wake up call to all that listen.

How must our father feel if we are not making real changes. Not just in knowledge but in Agape love. Christ is love. It is all bout love. It has nothing to do with how much we understand about knowledge. Anyway true knowledge changes us. Turns us into beautiful people on the inside. We follow what he has to say.
Jesus said if you give a cup of water to his servants you gave it to him. Hurt his servants! We hurt him. Jesus said in Mark 9-42
And who ever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck and he was cast into the sea.

My question is are we shinning lights? Are we true servants full of love and goodness. Do we consider others feelings?
Lets hope so or other wise we all worse that worldly people.
Quote what you wrote John s.
We can see at times rotten, proud, false(lies),treacherous, filthy, and every ruinous thing can come from the”breath” of earthling man.
Conversely,we see praise, love, truth, humility, encouragement, and true instruction come forth. ( We should see this from true born again Christians.) Yes yes! Ruth certainly agrees!

In the time we’re living,we are accountable for what we are saying, according to The Lord@ Matt.5:22 calling people “a despicable fool!” ( even making us out to be fools is the same thing)
Brothers what I am hoping you all learn is to treat woman with love and respect. But how much more when they are TRUE dedicated servants. Treat your brothers and there wives as honorable vessels.
    Sister Ruth.

Does Carl O. Jonsson have a website and if so, what’s the URL?

  8. John S. says:

Well, sister, you gave me quite a compliment, and I do appreciate the sorely needed hug.I’m sorry we have no otherway to associate, but I enjoy the meals being provided here at the struggle. But we’re going to have to nick-name it something else, like the ‘Shelter’,because here I’m finally finding my anointed brothers and sisters I’ve been looking for 5 years running. We must get back to the simple basics of the Lord’s gospel. To work over Rev. 9,for instance, how difficult,if not impossible at this time to completely discern what these things mean.Yet the simple things contained in the Gospels give us the real meat. The Revelation is going to get crystal clear as it unfolds in occurence.”From this moment on,I am telling you before it occurs,in order that when it does occur, you may believe that I am he.”John 13:19 This is always the test of the real messenger,as Greybeard has taught above. We need to go lighter on prophecy, heavier on Gospel,at this point,I believe. We were addicted to a Christian religious cult that did not follow Christ or his teachings. The more simple roadsigns of accepting the implanting of the water and the spirit are really the prerequisites for learning the more difficult passages. But being impatient,we seem to go for the dessert first, ahhh the big Banana Split Sundae.I’m sure in God’s good time frame we’ll get truth more and more. Please brothers, give our anointed sisters credit and believe they too are discerning of the fine current the Holy Spirit is operating in.Remember, women have garnered a good reputation thru the last 6000 years of intellignce, and have outsmarted the first, strongest, and most handsome and wealthy of men….NEVER UNDERESTIMATE a woman, first rule of the book of the record of the history of the “Knowledge of Good and Bad.”And if you find a good mate, love and respect her, even as Christ showed those qualities to Martha and Mary of Bethany.(And I’ll do the same,if I ever find another.) I’ll always remember how hard it was for my wife,to do all she had to do,and raise our 5 little children along the way.She gets my love and respect till the very end…Goodnite, and be blessed all.

  9. Ruth says:

    Brother John S.
You make me laugh. You make me cry with happiness meeting such a kind caring brother. Plus others of cause. A few of us would love you in Australia.
yes the name is so appropriate. “THE SHELTER.” There are a few true brothers sisters here in our country that we have met. Well sort of met.
But not many. You could fit them on one hand. Unfortunately we are all separated cannot seem to get the one on one encouragement. Thank our Lord for the internet. If you do not hear from me soon its because my computer is playing up.
No one to help me fix it.
    Sister Ruth.

It is quite difficult. But on the other hand we search out the sheep and hopefully will have a little flock here soon. Well you know what I mean.

  10. John S. says:

Thanks sis,you know,I talk a big line, but I’ve made some stupid moves in my life, not as faithful as I should have.Like David,I sinned at times, knowing full well I was sinning against the Father, and everyone, wife included. But I had to carry the crushing load of guilt and public humility for many years,so I think that’s why they anointed me,I was to the point where I just wanted to go to ‘sleep’ and pay for my sins.I am 57 yrs old,and have lived a wonderful life. And I don’t regret being a Witness of Jehovah.I enjoyed learning with them, preaching, enjoyed giving talks,I excelled at that, and I miss all that.I want to get the door-to-door message up and going with a simple study guide for new interested ones in Christ and the Kingdom hope, and take this around.Something that could be passed out for free, but would appeal to Christians, not just those who are starting on the way. I’m so sorry that there are so few locally to associate with.I know and sometimes I’ll go to a Baptist church and study with them at the morning Sunday school, and share scriptural truths. They always miss me and want me to join the church, cause I encourage them so much and praise their good.I don’t feel they are in Babylon the Great at all. That’s just another myth that needs to be busted. They are sincerely trying to practice Christianity, but are needing to get together on Bible truth, just like we all are doing. If it’s true that these so-called “nominal Christians” are made up of members of Babylon the Great, then what knowledge or lack thereof determines the dividing line? Strictly speaking, wouldn’t Jehovah’s Witnesses,Bible Students, and people on this site, who certainly don’t have all the understanding either be in the same boat? Most of Christendom understands Babylon is the Catholic church, with its history of sin and slaughter of millions for heresey and outright warfare against their enemies that is being called to account for their sins AS A RELIGIOUS BODY,and not individually;not sincere worshippers of Christ/and Father. This is a much more reasonable understanding to me.I have attended religious services all over the land, and never was disappointed once, but carried something good away every time, and gave back a lot of love and truth to them in return. To make a good judgement, you first have to walk a mile in their mocassins as they say.Didn’t the angels even go to Sodom and personally examine what was going on before it was destroyed? While I was still a Witness,I started going around to churches and examining what they were doing and saw thru their eyes the things they were seeing. The elders contacted me and warned me.But I said I was observing, and they dropped the subject and left me alone. They knew I was a deep thinker and was trying to help these people and not condemn them. And so today.I know Bible truth is available,to a point,Ruth,as you say.But like Paul says…partially. There’s no way to convince all these millions of all the errors we perceive in their thinking. We can encourage them, pray with them,to the Father, which they do,too, and share the more accurate knowledge a little at a time and if Father draws them to us,fine. This late in the time of the end,we are all,2.5 billion Christians in little or big arks and boats, about to ride out the biggest storm this world has ever seen.We do well to shout out some encouragement over the waves to each one passing us by,or just a wave or a smile. That’s all we can do now.I strongly feel a sense thru the Spirit that we are pretty much now going to see the storm upon us,and its time to get our own boat ready, trim the lines, check the rigging, make sure there’s water and food aboard, medicines, tools, etc.Get ready for a terrible time brothers and sisters.Get your affairs in order,I say.Don’t make too many long range plans without seriously looking around you at the shape of things.Matt.16:3 I hope you continue to publish the thoughts nof your heart ,Ruth. The Polynesians were such sailors that, without any mechanical instruments, they navigated all over the largest Ocean, the Pacific. They had a keen sense of weather, wind, and wave patterns, and put together a “feel” for the ocean and the boundaries of land.We have all been given a conscience, the most powerful and intelligent law making, and discerning instinct there is on this earth. We are also created with an inborn godliness, and knowledge and then, there is love, faith, and patience, etc. Now add the Holy Spirit, our helper and instructor, and the word he delivered to us,How can we go wrong? We’ll be able to navigate any storm that comes our way, from Satan or evil men.And the human race has each other.People always help their neighbors in times of distress, its a natural wonder. This is why Christ died,he created us,he knows the work of his hands,he knows our good and love far outweighs the bad. When I get lonely, friends,I pour out my heart to them. And cry a little bit. Then the spirit picks up my heart ,and I remember I’ll be going to my new home soon. Then I get happy and warm inside again and joy returns, and I say,oh well, such is life.
